SPRING 2016 REPORT // BEGINNERS’ CLASS & TRIP

This year’s Canoe/Kayak School Beginners’ Class turned out to be nearly PRIVATE LESSONS—Lucky (2) Students. Lots of rapid progress was made due to all the individual attention that was possible… and one student (you know who you are) was a Natural—Successfully Rolling His Kayak ON The 1st Attempt—Woo Hoo!
The Beginners’ Class trip on a stretch of Elkhorn Creek near Frankfort KY had to be postponed due to the low water levels recorded on the USGS webpage that shows current Discharge (cfs) & Gage height (feet) readings.
NOTE: The discharge & gage height readings do NOT indicate what levels are runnable and what levels are either too low or TOO HIGH to safely paddle. For those details—You really need to attend meetings and talk to the Experienced Heads & Hands of this or other paddling clubs.
When the trip was run—the water levels were as high as You’d EVER want to take Beginning Paddlers on… except that “The Natural” made it look EZ.
